MediaTek chipset poor Wi-Fi

Member   Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 290	MediaTek chipset poor Wi-Fi I have a phone with Mediatek chip, and I use public Wi-Fi hotspots a lot. I find that I always get 1 bar weak connection, unstable connection that trend to break every 5 or 10 minutes, and slow reconnection to the wireless router/access point, either a very long authentication, or getting an IP address assigned. Is this a common problem experienced by Mediatek phones? If it is, I will look for a Qualcomm Snapdragon one for my next phone/tablet.
