Is it being wasteful to listen to radio using TV?

I have a mini hifi set in living room, which I found it taking up to much space, and clutering m console. My wife will use it to listen to radio. There is CD and DVD functions but the output is only 480p, no HDMI, my mistake, only realized that after I bought it off Qoo10. So I am thinking, after this unit uplorry, I may not want to buy another set. Just use my TV to listen to radio.
